ROTOR
Records of Tests, Observations & Requirements
Using ROTOR
Short, operational terms for people who sign in to ROTOR. They cover your account, what a sign-off means, confidentiality and acceptable use. Commercial matters stay with the contract between Siemens Energy and the customer.

Who may use ROTOR
ROTOR is provided to Siemens Energy staff and to representatives of customers who have been invited by Siemens Energy in connection with inspection or outage work on their equipment. Access is by invitation only and is limited to the projects you are a member of. By signing in you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and, where applicable, your employer.
Your account
- Your account is personal. Do not share your password or let anyone else sign in as you.
- Everything recorded or signed while signed in as you is attributed to you. If you believe someone else has used your account, tell the ROTOR team immediately.
- Keep your account details accurate, and tell your Siemens Energy representative when you no longer need access so the account can be deactivated.
Sign-offs and records
- A sign-off in ROTOR is the agreed record that the step, inspection or document it relates to was witnessed, held, reviewed or accepted as shown, at the time shown, by the person shown. Only sign what you have actually witnessed or reviewed.
- Records are append-only: sign-offs cannot be edited, and a voided sign-off remains visible as voided. Each sign-off stores a fingerprint of the content signed so later changes are detectable.
- Where a customer representative signs on ROTOR, they do so with the same effect as signing the equivalent paper inspection record. The commercial and contractual consequences of any inspection result remain governed by the contract between Siemens Energy and the customer, not by these terms.
- A sign-off made with your credentials — whether entered on your own device, on a Siemens Energy device in your presence, or via a signing link — is intended to be an electronic signature for the purposes of the Electronic Transactions Act 1999 (Cth) and the equivalent state legislation. By using ROTOR you consent to signing inspection records in this way. Each sign-off records who signed, when, how, and a fingerprint of the content signed.
Records and the underlying contract
These terms govern use of the ROTOR application only. The inspection and outage work itself, the ownership of and rights to the inspection records, and each party’s rights and obligations in relation to that work are set out in the contract between Siemens Energy and the customer organisation, which prevails over these terms if there is any inconsistency. Inspection records relate to the customer’s equipment and are produced under that contract; Siemens Energy hosts them in ROTOR and the customer’s entitlement to receive copies is as set out in the contract.
Confidentiality
Inspection records, photographs, findings and other content in ROTOR are confidential to Siemens Energy and the customer concerned. Use them only for the purpose of the inspection or outage they relate to and do not disclose them to anyone who is not entitled to see them under the relevant contract. Exports and printed reports carry the same confidentiality.
Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to access projects, records or functions you have not been granted, or to bypass any access control.
- Do not upload content that is unlawful, that infringes someone else’s rights, or that is unrelated to the inspection work.
- Do not probe, scan or test the service for vulnerabilities without written agreement from the ROTOR team. If you find a security issue, report it to the ROTOR team privately.
- Do not upload photographs of people. Evidence photographs are of equipment only; no record requires a person to be identifiable.
Record integrity, continuity and support
ROTOR is the system of record for the inspection and test plans, findings, sign-offs and evidence produced on a project. The scope of what must be inspected comes from the contract; the executed record of that inspection is held in ROTOR. We treat it accordingly:
- Records are stored in Australia, encrypted in transit and at rest, and every request is checked against the user’s project membership in the database itself, not only in the application.
- Sign-offs and audit entries are append-only: they cannot be edited or deleted once written, and each sign-off carries a fingerprint of the content signed so later changes are detectable.
- A full backup of the database and all evidence files is taken every night to a separate encrypted store in Sydney, with a second encrypted copy held with an independent provider (see the Privacy Notice). Daily backups are kept for 30 days and weekly backups for 12 months, and restorability is verified with a documented drill.
- Deleted files are held in a recoverable state for 90 days before permanent removal.
- Any record can be printed or saved as a PDF at any time from the application, and a customer organisation can request a complete copy of its project records under the contract for the work.
Like any hosted service, ROTOR is not warranted to be available without interruption. Planned changes are announced in the release notes on the sign-in page. If the service is unavailable during an inspection, the paper fall-back agreed for the project applies and the record is entered into ROTOR afterwards with the actual date and time of the activity. Report problems through the in-app bug report or the contact link on the sign-in page.
These terms do not create any liability between Siemens Energy and a customer organisation separate from the contract for the work. Any liability arising from the inspection work or its records is governed by that contract. This does not limit any right that cannot be excluded by law.
Suspension and changes
We may suspend or deactivate an account that breaches these terms or that is no longer needed, and we may change the service or these terms from time to time. Changes to these terms are versioned and dated at the top of this page and announced in the release notes on the sign-in page; where a change is material you may be asked to acknowledge it on your next sign-in. Continuing to use ROTOR after a change takes effect is acceptance of the changed terms.
Governing law
ROTOR is provided by Siemens Energy Pty Ltd (ABN 69 636 537 409). These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Nothing in these terms excludes any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other law that cannot be excluded. Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy notice, which forms part of these terms.
